Miljødirektoratet, already linked to every property.

Miljødirektoratet (the Norwegian Environment Agency) is Norway's central agency for managing nature and pollution. It reports to the Ministry of Climate and Environment (Klima- og miljødepartementet) and supplies a large share of the environmental and nature data in Placepoint. The agency was formed in 2013 by merging Klima- og forurensningsdirektoratet and Direktoratet for naturforvaltning. Today it is the main source of maps of contaminated land, wastewater facilities, noise mapping, nature types in NiN (Nature in Norway), species of national management interest and sensitive species data.

What Miljødirektoratet gives you

The data, and what it decides

For a property developer, Miljødirektoratet's data is often decisive at the assessment stage. A site with registered pollution needs a remediation plan and often mitigating groundworks. Being close to priority species or selected nature types can trigger consideration zones in zoning plans. Noise levels above the T-1442 limit values can require facade measures on new buildings. Much of the content in the pollution, noise and nature map layers therefore comes from this source.

Miljødirektoratet works for a clean and rich environment. Our main tasks are to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, manage Norwegian nature and prevent pollution. We are a professionally independent directorate under the Ministry of Climate and Environment.

Registers, maps and services as the vendor publishes them.

Collection

We collect from the source, not from a copy of a copy, as often as the source is updated.

Why Miljødirektoratet in Placepoint

The register is free. The time it takes to use it is not.

One lookup, not one portal per source

Miljødirektoratet is one of 37 vendors. Its data sits on each property alongside registers, plans and risk data from the other vendors.

Linked to the right property

We link the data to the cadastre number before you open the map. No keys, no import.

Updated when the source is

Update frequency follows the source: weekly, real time, or when the source changes. Each field shows its date.

Traceable back to the source

Each dataset is labelled with Miljødirektoratet as the vendor, so you can document your sources in a report.

The datasets

24 datasets from Miljødirektoratet

Each dataset follows its source's update schedule, shown for that dataset. The category is the map layer group the dataset sits under in Fusion.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about the Miljødirektoratet data

Ask a question
How up to date is the data from Miljødirektoratet?

The table above shows how often each dataset is updated, which follows the source. Every field in Placepoint shows its source and date.

Can we use the data from Miljødirektoratet in our own systems?

Yes. The Placepoint API exposes the same datasets programmatically, and the MCP server makes them available to AI agents. You can export extracts and reports from the platform.

Does it cost extra?

The datasets are part of your Placepoint subscription. Where the source charges a fee for individual documents, such as registered documents from Kartverket, the price follows the source's fee.

Are we missing a source you use?

Tell us at support@placepoint.no. We add sources all the time, often because a customer asked for one we did not have.
