Outdoor recreation areas in Placepoint
Areas mapped and valued using the method in the Norwegian Environment Agency's (Miljødirektoratet) guide M98-2013 "Mapping and valuation of outdoor recreation areas". The aim is to give an overview of areas that matter for public outdoor recreation, and to make clear which assessments and criteria lie behind the valuation. The municipalities own the dataset and register and update the data in Naturbase. The Norwegian Environment Agency runs the service.
For property developers, outdoor recreation areas matter for zoning plans that affect recreational value. Marked trails, bathing spots, viewpoints and key outdoor areas can trigger consideration zones and requirements to keep public access. About the datasetNiN mapping units
Nature areas mapped using Natur i Norge (NiN), Artsdatabanken's standard system for classifying and describing Norwegian nature.
About the datasetHow often are outdoor recreation areas updated?
Real time. The update frequency follows the source and is shown on the dataset in Placepoint.
Where does the data come from?
From Miljødirektoratet. We collect the data, check its quality and link it to the correct property, with the source and date on every field.
How do I see outdoor recreation areas for a property?
Look up the address in Fusion and turn on the Nature map layer. The dataset is a separate layer there. Click on the map to see the details in the property panel.
Can I get the dataset programmatically?
Yes. The same data is available in Placepoint API and in Placepoint AI through MCP, so you can bring it into your own systems and agents.
