Road noise, already linked to every property.
Calculated average road traffic noise at 4 metres above ground, from roads with at least 3 million vehicle passages a year (AADT 8,200+). The dataset is calculations, not measurements, based on traffic volume, the road's characteristics and a terrain model.

What the dataset contains
Road noise in Placepoint
Calculated average road traffic noise at 4 metres above ground, from roads with at least 3 million vehicle passages a year (AADT 8,200+). The dataset is calculations, not measurements, based on traffic volume, the road's characteristics and a terrain model. Distributed by Miljødirektoratet. Noise is classified under guideline T-1442 into noise zones that trigger different requirements in zoning plans.
For a developer, road noise is decisive at the zoning stage: buildings in a yellow or red noise zone require facade insulation, quiet outdoor areas or other mitigation measures. For home buyers, it is information that belongs in the sales prospectus and the valuation. Part of Placepoint's map layers for noise. About the datasetSoil Contamination – Areas
The service covers properties with contaminated land and municipal and private/industrial landfills.
About the datasetRail/metro/tram noise
Calculated average noise from railways (including metro and tram) at 4 metres above ground.
About the datasetNoise mapping (T-1442)
Noise warning maps under Guideline T-1442, the official guidance on handling noise in land-use planning.
About the datasetHow often is road noise updated?
Updated manually. The frequency follows the source and is shown on the dataset in Placepoint.
Where does the data come from?
From Miljødirektoratet. We collect the data, check its quality and link it to the correct property, with the source and date on every field.
How do I see road noise for a property?
Look up the address in Fusion and turn on the Pollution map layer. The dataset is there as a separate layer, and the details appear in the property panel when you click on the map.
Can I get the dataset programmatically?
Yes. The same data is available in Placepoint API and in Placepoint AI through MCP, so you can bring it into your own systems and agents.
