Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection, already linked to every property.

The Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection (DSB) is Norway's specialist directorate for preventing and preparing for accidents, crises and other adverse events, and is the authority responsible for the country's shelters. It reports to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security and provides one dataset to Placepoint: a register of all public shelters in Norway.

What the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection gives you

The data, and what it decides

Since the security situation changed after 2022, shelter coverage has also become a topic in the residential and commercial property markets. If you use Placepoint to assess a site or property, you may want to see where the nearest public shelter is, what capacity it has and which areas lack enough coverage. DSB also runs a number of other specialist registers, such as hazardous substances, fire and rescue services and electrical installations, but these are not yet combined in Placepoint.

The Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection (DSB) must maintain an overview of risk and vulnerability in society. We must drive the work to prevent accidents, crises and other adverse events, and ensure good emergency preparedness and effective accident and crisis management.
