Retail activity, already linked to every property.
Placepoint's classification of areas with retail activity in each municipality, based on the density and revenue of business locations compiled from datasets based on Brønnøysundregistrene (BRREG) (Grocery Chains, Shopping centres, Department stores, Pharmacies, Fuel stations and more). We sort the areas within each municipality into five levels: Highest, High, Medium, Low and Lowest. These levels often match footfall well.

If you are a commercial property agent, retail activity gives you a summary of a municipality's retail pattern: where the town centre is, where the edge-of-town retail is and where people gather to visit. If you are a residential developer, it also helps you judge how close homes are to everyday services. Related: Shopping centres, Main Industry per Basic Statistical Unit, Daytime population.

About the datasetHow often is retail activity updated?
Monthly. The frequency follows the source and is shown on the dataset in Placepoint.
Where does the data come from?
From Placepoint. We collect and quality-check the data, then link it to the right property, with the source and date on every field.
How do I see retail activity on a property?
Look up the address in Fusion and turn on the Business map layer. The dataset is a separate layer there, and the details appear in the property panel when you click on the map.
Can I get the dataset programmatically?
Yes. The same data is available in Placepoint API and in Placepoint AI through MCP, so you can bring it into your own systems and agents.
