Statens vegvesen, already linked to every property.

Statens vegvesen is Norway's national agency for roads and road traffic, under the Ministry of Transport. Among other things, it manages the National Road Database (NVDB), one of Europe's most comprehensive public collections of road data. NVDB supplies Placepoint with data on road category, road authority and speed limit, traffic volume, road traffic accidents, bridges, water & sewer assets along roads, and load classes and restrictions for heavy vehicles.

What Statens vegvesen gives you

The data, and what it decides

For a developer, the building line is often a critical assumption early in design. Depending on the road category (national, county, municipal or private road), it usually ranges from 15 to 50 metres. Traffic volume and accident patterns matter both in noise assessments and as market data for retail and commercial buildings. Much of the content in the Transport and communications and Risk map layers comes from here.

Statens vegvesen works to create a smart, connected road transport system for the whole of Norway. We will develop good road systems that everyone can use, where transport does not cause serious harm to people or the environment.

Why Statens vegvesen in Placepoint

The register is free. The time it takes to use it is not.

Linked to the right property

We link the data to the cadastre number before you open the map. No keys, no import.

Updated when the source is

Update frequency follows the source: weekly, monthly, weekly based on NVDB. The date is shown on every field.

Traceable back to the source

Every dataset is tagged with Statens vegvesen as the vendor, so you can document the source in a report.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about the Statens vegvesen data

Ask a question
How up to date is the data from Statens vegvesen?

The table above shows how often each dataset is updated, which follows the source. Every field in Placepoint shows its source and date.

Can we use the data from Statens vegvesen in our own systems?

Yes. The Placepoint API exposes the same datasets programmatically, and the MCP server makes them available to AI agents. You can export extracts and reports from the platform.

Does it cost extra?

The datasets are part of your Placepoint subscription. Where the source charges a fee for individual documents, such as registered documents from Kartverket, the price follows the source's fee.

Are we missing a source you use?

Tell us at support@placepoint.no. We add sources all the time, often because a customer asked for one we did not have.
