Historical aerial photos, already linked to every property.
Aerial photos going back to the 1930s where they exist. Turn on a year to see the area as it looked that year, and switch between years to date building work, changes to the terrain, old road routes, landfill and earlier land use.

What the dataset contains
Historical aerial photos in Placepoint
Aerial photos going back to the 1930s where they exist. Turn on a year to see the area as it looked that year, and switch between years to date building work, changes to the terrain, old road routes, landfill and earlier land use. «Latest imagery» shows the best available images of the area. The number of years and how far back they go varies by location. Central Oslo has images from 1937 and Bergen from 1948, while many municipalities start in the 1950s or 1960s. Resolution ranges from 0.05 m in recent urban images to around 0.2 m in post-war images, and the oldest are black and white with lower geometric accuracy. Use them to see what was there, not to measure boundaries. Urban areas are often photographed every year, the rest of the country in a cycle every 5 to 10 years, and it normally takes up to a year from the flight until the images are published.
Geodata AS distributes the dataset, with Kartverket, Geovekst, the municipalities and Avinor (through Norge i Bilder) as underlying sources.
If you are a developer, historical aerial photos help you check how a site was used before you buy it, for example whether it was used for landfill, industry or other activity that may have left contaminated land. Part of Placepoint's map layers for Property.

Datasets often read together
Number of transactions (property)
The number of registered property transactions per basic statistical unit over a given period, based on the matrikkel.
About the datasetHousing and area reserve (Oslo)
Oslo kommune's own overview of zoned housing in the capital: a compiled zoning reserve that covers both detailed zoning plans (individual projects) and area zoning plans (larger areas).
About the datasetApartment building
All building types classed as housing in the matrikkel, with building geometry from Felles kartdatabase (FKB).
About the datasetBuildings in 3D
Contains buildings across Norway, derived from FKB, aerial photos and LiDAR data (laser).
About the datasetBuilding age
Detailed overview of the year buildings across Norway were built, based on the information municipalities have registered in the matrikkel, with building geometry from Felles kartdatabase (FKB).
About the datasetCoverage Map Case Access
Shows which municipalities we collect public records lists from to power the Saksinnsyn feature.
About the datasetHow often are historical aerial photos updated?
The update frequency follows the source and is shown on the dataset in Placepoint.
Where does the data come from?
From Geodata AS. We collect and quality-check the data and place it on the correct property, with source and date on every field.
How do I see historical aerial photos on a property?
Look up the address in Fusion and turn on the Property map layer. The dataset is a separate layer there, and the details appear in the property panel when you click on the map.
Can I get the dataset programmatically?
Yes. The same data is available in Placepoint API and in Placepoint AI through MCP, so you can bring it into your own systems and agents.
