Grid connection queue, already linked to every property.
Transmission grid capacity tied up in Statnett's connection cases, grouped by substation. The dataset shows how much capacity is reserved or queued at each point, how many cases compete for the same substation, the largest single case and the next planned connection.

What the dataset contains
Grid connection queue in Placepoint
Transmission grid capacity tied up in Statnett's connection cases, grouped by substation. The dataset shows how much capacity is reserved or queued at each point, how many cases compete for the same substation, the largest single case and the next planned connection. Substation positions come from NVE's grid installations.
Statnett distinguishes between cases that are requested, reserved, placed in the capacity queue and connected. The queue only includes customers mature enough to get a place, and a project that has received capacity on special terms also stays in the ordinary queue.
For a developer, this is an early-stage filter for power-intensive projects such as data centres, battery factories and electrified industry. A site can be zoned and available, yet still be ruled out because capacity at the nearest substation is already tied up. The dataset also shows who is competing for the same point and which industries they belong to. Part of Placepoint's Energy map layers. The point on the map is the substation, not the project site. Statnett has recorded cases manually from 2018 onwards, so some may be missing.

What it looks like
Grid connection queue on the map
The dataset is part of the Energy map layer. Each circle is a substation. Its size follows tied-up capacity in MW, and its colour shows what the substation has most of:
Color | Meaning
Red | Both queue and reservations at the same substation
Orange | Queued cases
Yellow | Reserved capacity
Blue | Connected cases only
Grey | History, everything withdrawn
Click a station to see committed capacity split into queued, reserved, connected and withdrawn, the number of cases, the competing business types, the largest single case with its customer, the next planned connection, the price area and the county. Last updated 9 September 2026

Datasets often read together
District heating
Areas with a licence or a licence application for district heating.
About the datasetSmall hydropower potential
Mapped potential for small hydropower plants, with the intake point and waterway for each project and an estimated development cost.
About the datasetSolar resources
Average annual solar irradiation in kWh/m², for the period 1991 to 2020.
About the datasetHow often is the Grid connection queue updated?
Daily. The frequency follows the source and is shown on the dataset in Placepoint.
Where does the data come from?
From Statnett. We collect and quality-check the data and link it to the right property, with source and date on every field.
How do I see the Grid connection queue for a property?
Look up the address in Fusion and turn on the Energy map layer. The dataset is there as a separate layer, and the details appear in the property panel when you click on the map.
Can I get the dataset programmatically?
Yes. The same data is available in Placepoint API and in Placepoint AI through MCP, so you can bring it into your own systems and agents.
