Statnett, linked to every property.

Statnett is the system operator for the Norwegian power system and owns the transmission grid, the network that carries electricity between regions and abroad. The company is wholly owned by the state through the Ministry of Energy, and decides who may connect to the transmission grid and when.

What Statnett gives you

The data, and what it decides

For a developer, this is often the deciding information at an early stage for energy-intensive projects such as data centres, battery factories and industry. A site can be zoned, available and well located, and still be ruled out because the capacity at the nearest substation is tied up in cases ahead of it in the queue. The dataset is part of the Energy map layer.

Statnett is responsible for keeping electricity production and consumption in Norway in balance at all times, and owns and operates the national transmission grid.

From source to map

From Statnett to your map, with no setup

Statnett

Registers, maps and services as the vendor publishes them.

Collection

We collect from the source, not from a copy of a copy, as often as the source is updated.

Normalisation

Linked to cadastre number and Organization Number, quality-assured, with source and date on every field.

Your workspace

Map, property panel, reports, Placepoint API and MCP.

Why Statnett in Placepoint

The register is free. The time it takes to use it is not.

One lookup, not one portal per source

Statnett is one of 37 vendors. The data sits on the property alongside registers, plans and risk data from the others.

Linked to the right property

We link the data to the cadastre number before you open the map. No keys, no import.

Updated when the source is

Updates follow the source: daily. Each field shows its date.

Traceable back to the source

Each dataset is labelled with Statnett as the vendor, so you can document your sources in a report.

The datasets

1 dataset from Statnett

Each dataset follows its source's update schedule, shown for that dataset. The category is the map layer group the dataset sits under in Fusion.

How to get started

Four steps

Book a demo or create an account

We show you the data on properties you know.

Look up an address

Use an address, cadastre number or the map. The panel shows what is registered on the property.

Turn on the map layers you need

The layers from this source are in the layer picker, sorted by category.

Get the data via API or MCP

The Placepoint API and the MCP server give you the same data programmatically.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about the Statnett data

Ask a question
How up to date is the data from Statnett?

The table above shows how often each dataset is updated, which follows the source. Every field in Placepoint shows its source and date.

Can we use the Statnett data in our own systems?

Yes. The Placepoint API exposes the same datasets programmatically, and the MCP server makes them available to AI agents. You can export extracts and reports from the platform.

Does it cost extra?

The datasets are part of your Placepoint subscription. Where the source charges a fee for individual documents, such as registered documents from Kartverket, the price follows the source's fee.

Are we missing a source you use?

Tell us at support@placepoint.no. We add sources all the time, often because a customer asked for one we did not have.
