What the dataset contains

Planned Electrical Installations in the Power System in Placepoint

Electrical installations and power lines that have a licence or are at different stages of the licensing process, but have not yet been built. Distributed by the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE). Each object has one of these statuses: notification, application, consultation, licence granted / recommendation to the Ministry of Energy (OED), appealed, licence refused, licence withdrawn or other decision. For each installation we show the type (overhead line, substation and others), voltage level, installation name, developer, licence status and status date.

For a developer, the dataset is an early warning that the power grid in an area is being expanded. This can trigger future building restriction zones and affect grid capacity for new projects with high power demand. For larger development projects with significant power demand (for example data centres, warehouses with battery charging, large housing projects), it also helps you assess whether grid capacity is a bottleneck. It is part of our Energy map layers. Related: Grid installations, Substations, towers, poles & licences.
