Netbas is the main specialist system used by grid companies in Norway. It maps and documents the physical infrastructure of the power grid (masts, cables, transformers, switchgear, protection) for grid operators such as Elvia, BKK Nett, Lyse Elnett and many regional operators. Volue ASA develops and manages the system. Netbas was originally developed by Powel in Trondheim, which merged into Volue in 2020 together with Markedskraft, Wattsight and Scanmatic.

What Netbas gives you
The data, and what it decides
Placepoint collects Netbas-based data for the map layers Grid installations, Transformers, masts, poles and licences, and Planned Electrical Installations in the Power System. For a property developer, grid infrastructure near a site is a critical factor. New housing projects need capacity in the local grid, data centres need a direct transformer connection, and high-voltage lines over a site set building limits and health requirements. Data on capacity and future extensions is often business-critical, and it reaches public planning processes from Netbas only slowly.

Does it cost extra?
The datasets are part of your Placepoint subscription. Where the source charges a fee for individual documents, such as registered documents from Kartverket, the price follows the source's fee.
