What the dataset contains
Military camps in Placepoint
Properties over 10,000 m² owned by Forsvarsbygg, the Norwegian Armed Forces' property manager. Geodata AS supplies the dataset to Placepoint. It covers larger military facilities, training areas, bases and defence camps. Smaller properties (under 10,000 m²) are not included.
For a property developer, military properties matter in two ways. They are potential purchases, as the Armed Forces regularly sell surplus properties that can be developed for housing or business. They are also neighbouring properties where noise from exercises or firing ranges can trigger consideration zones in zoning plans. The Armed Forces' noise zone mapping is often more extensive than what the public noise layers show. Related: Public and similar buildings; Public Shelters. Part of Placepoint's Risk map layers.

About the datasetHow often are military camps updated?
Weekly. The frequency follows the source and is shown on the dataset in Placepoint.
Where does the data come from?
From Geodata AS. We collect and quality-check the data and place it on the correct property, with source and date on every field.
How do I see military camps for a property?
Look up the address in Fusion and turn on the Property map layer. The dataset is a separate layer there, and the details appear in the property panel when you click on the map.
Can I get the dataset programmatically?
Yes. The same data is available in Placepoint API and in Placepoint AI through MCP, so you can bring it into your own systems and agents.
