What the dataset contains
Kindergartens in Placepoint
All kindergartens in Norway from Barnehagefakta, the public kindergarten database run by Utdanningsdirektoratet (the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training). The dataset includes the kindergarten's name, ownership form (municipal, private or county), number of children, number of employees, opening hours and contact information. The kindergartens report the information themselves, and the municipality and Utdanningsdirektoratet check its quality. Reporting happens once a year, so some details may have changed since the last report.
For housing developers, being close to a kindergarten is one of the most important location factors for projects aimed at families with children. It is a basic indicator of appeal in sales material and target group analysis. For developers planning larger projects, the municipality may also set a phasing requirement that new kindergarten capacity is built alongside the housing, especially in high-demand areas. Part of Placepoint's map layers for education. Related: Primary Schools, Upper secondary schools, School catchment areas.
