Aquaculture register in Placepoint
The Aquaculture register is the public register of all licences for aquaculture and fish farming in Norway, managed by Fiskeridirektoratet (the Directorate of Fisheries). The dataset brings together active and deleted localities, species and production purpose, capacity (MTB), escape statistics, environmental and current surveys, and links to the licence holder in Brønnøysundregistrene (BRREG).
Each locality has coordinates, licence number, species and maximum allowed biomass, and is updated monthly with reported biomass figures. The dataset also includes oxygen environment monitoring (B and C surveys under NS 9410), current surveys under the NYTEK regulations, and production areas in the zoned traffic light system for salmon and trout.
For a developer in the coastal zone, the Aquaculture register is a required check: active fish farming sites can trigger consideration zones in zoning plans and affect plans for jetties, subsea cables or marine business. For home buyers along the fjords, being close to fish farms matters for noise, smell and views. The dataset is part of our Coast and fishing map layer. Biomass figures are updated monthly; permit and site data are updated continuously.

About the datasetSea depth (bathymetry)
Kartverket is the nautical charting authority in Norway, and this dataset is the official depth data for salt water. It is the basis for navigation products, coastal zone planning and property analysis in the coastal zone.
About the datasetHow often is the Aquaculture register updated?
Monthly. Each site has coordinates, a permit number, species and maximum allowed biomass, and is updated monthly with reported biomass figures. The dataset also includes oxygen monitoring (B and C surveys under NS 9410), current surveys under the NYTEK regulations, and production areas in the zoned traffic light system for salmon and trout.
Where does the data come from?
From Fiskeridirektoratet (the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries). We collect and quality-check the data and link it to the right property, with source and date on every field.
How do I see the Aquaculture register for a property?
Look up the address in Fusion and turn on the Coast and fishing map layer. The dataset is a separate layer there, and the details appear in the property panel when you click on the map.
Can I get the dataset programmatically?
Yes. The same data is available in Placepoint API and in Placepoint AI through MCP, so you can bring it into your own systems and agents.
