What the dataset contains
Hydropower in Placepoint
NVE's management overview of all dams and regulated lakes in Norway, covering both developed and undeveloped hydropower potential. The dataset includes power plants in operation, power plants out of operation, and projects that have been processed or are awaiting processing in the licensing process. Dams for purposes other than power production (water supply, flood control) are also included, because all regulated lakes affect watercourses whatever their purpose. Distributed by Norges vassdrags- og energidirektorat (NVE).
For a developer or investor, the dataset matters for all projects linked to watercourses, small-scale hydropower and the use of water resources. Read it together with Protected watercourses (watercourses protected from hydropower development), Watercourses and catchments and Water bodies. Part of Placepoint's Energy map layer. Related renewable: Wind power.

How often is Hydropower updated?
Weekly. The frequency follows the source and is shown on the dataset in Placepoint.
Where does the data come from?
From Norges vassdrags- og energidirektorat. We collect and quality-check the data, then link it to the right property, with source and date on every field.
How do I see Hydropower for a property?
Look up the address in Fusion. The dataset is in the property panel for the property.
Can I get the dataset programmatically?
Yes. The same data is available in Placepoint API and in Placepoint AI through MCP, so you can bring it into your own systems and agents.
